A weakly positive rubella virus IgG result indicates that the individual has previously been infected with this virus and has therefore developed antibodies against it. Testing for both IgG and IgM antibodies helps determine whether a person has contracted a specific disease. A positive IgG result generally signifies a past infection, whereas a positive IgM result suggests an active, current infection.
