Rubella virus IgG antibody negative indicates that the body has not been infected with the rubella virus nor has it produced specific antibodies against rubella virus. IgG antibodies are produced by the body after some time following infection with the rubella virus and can persist for a long duration, even throughout life, providing immunity against the rubella virus. Therefore, a negative rubella virus IgG antibody result means the body lacks resistance to rubella virus infection and is susceptible to infection. It is recommended that such individuals avoid contact with persons infected with rubella and promptly receive the rubella vaccine, especially women of childbearing age, in order to reduce the risk of rubella virus infection. After receiving the rubella vaccine, the body will produce IgG antibodies, thereby preventing infection with the rubella virus.
