Use Daktarin for redness, swelling, and pus formation after mosquito bites.
Disease description:
People usually apply mosquito repellent lotion after being bitten by mosquitoes. I would like to know whether Daktarin (miconazole nitrate) is effective for redness, swelling, and pus formation following insect bites.
Applying Daktarin (miconazole nitrate) is ineffective for redness, swelling, and pus formation following mosquito bites. Daktarin is primarily used to treat tinea pedis (athlete’s foot) and tinea manuum (hand fungus). After a mosquito bite, the affected area can be cleaned with soapy water, followed by application of calamine lotion or mentholated oil—both help relieve pain and itching. Most topical medications for skin conditions contain corticosteroids; therefore, avoid using such ointments indiscriminately, as inappropriate use may produce adverse effects.
