How is cervical cancer screening performed?
Disease description:
My aunt (my mother’s sister) has been diagnosed with cervical cancer. I would like to inquire about the specific procedures involved in cervical cancer screening.
Cervical cancer screening recommendations advise patients to promptly visit a reputable hospital, where physicians can confirm the diagnosis through physical examination, cervical cytology (Pap smear), HPV testing, iodine staining (Schiller test), colposcopy, cervical and endocervical biopsy, and cervical conization.
Once cervical cancer is confirmed, patients are advised to promptly seek treatment at a reputable hospital. Primary treatment typically involves surgical interventions such as conization or simple hysterectomy. Adjuvant therapy—such as radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy—is administered postoperatively.
