How is hepatitis C transmitted?
Disease description:
A few days ago, I attended a lecture on infectious disease prevention and control, where I learned about hepatitis C. I would like to know how hepatitis C is transmitted.
The aforementioned diseases are primarily transmitted through blood transfusions and blood products. Additionally, sharing disposable syringes among intravenous drug users significantly increases the risk of infection; even close daily contact with individuals infected with hepatitis C virus (HCV) can lead to transmission. During childbirth, if the mother tests positive for HCV RNA, the risk of vertical transmission may reach 4% to 7%. Prevention efforts should focus on interrupting HCV transmission routes and improving hygiene and living conditions.
