Hello, BNP (B-type natriuretic peptide), also known as brain natriuretic peptide or ventricular natriuretic peptide, is a natriuretic and diuretic hormone secreted primarily by the cardiac ventricles. Its secretion increases mainly in response to myocardial stretch or stimulation—such as in heart failure, cardiac enlargement, or increased volume load—when ventricular wall tension rises. This enhanced secretion aims to reduce volume overload and alleviate cardiac workload through its natriuretic and diuretic effects, thereby counteracting adverse physiological consequences. We hope this information is helpful to you. Wishing you a happy and healthy life!
