Oral lichen planus is not necessarily oral cancer. Oral lichen planus is typically caused by chronic mucosal inflammation, is non-contagious, and does not lead to malignant transformation. When oral lichen planus occurs, treatment may be guided by a physician’s instructions—such as using antibiotics (e.g., penicillin-class drugs) to alleviate symptoms.
