What should be done for children with myopia?
Disease description:
My son has developed myopia, but the degree is not severe. What should be done for a child with myopia?
The child has developed myopia and should visit a hospital for an examination. Cycloplegic refraction can be performed to determine whether the child truly has myopia. If it is pseudomyopia, reducing screen time (e.g., smartphones, tablets, computers), minimizing prolonged near work, increasing outdoor activities, frequently gazing into the distance, and using prescribed eye drops before bedtime may help alleviate symptoms. If true myopia is confirmed, corrective eyeglasses are recommended. Given the rapid progression of myopia, orthokeratology (orthokeratology lenses) may be considered.
