What is the standard range for biparietal diameter (BPD)?
Disease description:
I’m scheduled for a prenatal checkup tomorrow and would like to do some research in advance—what is the standard range for fetal biparietal diameter (BPD)?
The biparietal diameter (BPD) varies with gestational age. At 14 weeks of gestation, the BPD is approximately 2.5 cm; at 16 weeks, it is about 3.2 cm; at 26 weeks, approximately 6.5 cm; at 38 weeks, around 9.2 cm; and at 40 weeks, roughly 9.4 cm. As fetal growth and development differ among individuals, the reference range for BPD may also vary.
