Is a slightly elevated low-density lipoprotein (LDL) level considered hyperlipidemia?
Disease description:
During my examination yesterday morning, my low-density lipoprotein (LDL) level was found to be elevated. Does a slightly elevated LDL level indicate hyperlipidemia?
Slightly elevated low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol is typically indicative of hyperlipidemia. Elevated LDL levels may promote arterial atherosclerosis, thereby increasing the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Additionally, hyperlipidemia also encompasses other lipid abnormalities, including elevated triglycerides, elevated total cholesterol, and reduced high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol.
