What is the difference between intervertebral disc herniation and lumbar disc herniation?
Disease description:
Recently, my mother has been complaining of lower back pain. I suspect it might be a herniated disc. What is the difference between “herniated disc” and “lumbar disc herniation”?
In general, “intervertebral disc herniation” and “lumbar intervertebral disc herniation” are essentially the same condition; the latter is the medically precise term for the former. This condition may result from frequent engagement in strenuous physical activities or, more commonly, from age-related degenerative changes in the lumbar spinal tissues. It can adversely affect overall health. Symptomatic relief may be achieved through local massage and other similar interventions, which help improve local blood circulation.
