Does genital herpes pose any health risks?
Disease description:
I was recently diagnosed with genital herpes. I’ve always been quite careful about personal hygiene, so I’m unsure how this happened. I’d like to know whether genital herpes poses any health risks.
Genital herpes infection poses certain health risks. Symptoms include blisters, erosions, or ulcers around the genital area, often accompanied by itching, burning, or pain—causing significant physical discomfort. Moreover, genital herpes tends to recur frequently, leading to considerable psychological stress; in some cases, it may even contribute to depression. Genital herpes is contagious and can be transmitted through sexual contact. Additionally, during pregnancy, the virus may be passed on to the newborn.
