The initial stage of HIV infection refers to the acute phase, generally occurring about 2 to 4 weeks after initial infection with the HIV virus. Main symptoms include general malaise, headache, nausea, vomiting, muscle aches, diarrhea, rash, and swollen lymph nodes. These symptoms are usually mild and tend to gradually subside within 1 to 3 weeks. During this period, HIV virus cannot yet be detected in the infected individual's body.
