Hazards of phimosis in children
Disease description:
My son has a slightly long foreskin, and I'm not sure if it will affect his development. I'd like to know what the risks of having an overly long foreskin in children are.
In children, excessive foreskin length can easily lead to smegma accumulation, which promotes rapid bacterial growth and may cause balanoposthitis. If left untreated into adulthood, it can result in premature ejaculation and negatively affect sexual life. Severe cases may even lead to infertility and increase the risk of gynecological infections in female partners. It is recommended to retract the foreskin daily and clean with water to maintain proper hygiene of the glans and foreskin. If inflammation occurs frequently, circumcision can be considered when the child reaches 7–8 years of age, which helps reduce the likelihood of recurrent inflammation.
