Phimosis is recommended for surgical treatment; however, in cases of inflamed phimosis, if the foreskin can be retracted and regularly cleaned, surgery may not be necessary. It's important to maintain local lubrication of the genital area and avoid aggressive behavior during sexual activity to prevent genital lacerations. Phimosis can easily lead to accumulation of smegma, resulting in bacterial infections accompanied by balanitis. Recurrent inflammation may cause various other complications. Currently, the most effective treatment for phimosis is circumcision, which is typically performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia.
