Disease description:

I have urethritis, and recently I haven't done anything unusual—the only possible cause I can think of is having long foreskin. Could long foreskin in men cause urethritis?

Long foreskin in males can lead to urethritis. Excessively long foreskin may cause balanoposthitis, and secretions from the glans penis can infect the external urethral orifice, leading to urethritis via retrograde infection. For patients with long foreskin who develop urethritis, the first step is to control the infection by thoroughly cleaning the inner foreskin and glans area, and applying erythromycin ointment topically. During this period, drink plenty of water to increase urination, which helps flush out inflammatory byproducts from the urethra, allowing the urethritis to resolve spontaneously.
