Pediatric indigestion mainly results from the underdeveloped and weak functions of the spleen and stomach in children. Improper diet can lead to symptoms of indigestion, such as abdominal chilliness, intestinal motility disturbances, excessive heat reducing digestive secretions, excessive water intake, or consumption of cold foods—all of which may cause digestive dysfunction. Due to infants' and young children's weak digestive capacity, parents should provide easily digestible and age-appropriate foods according to their child's developmental stage. When introducing new foods, parents should allow children to gradually adapt. New foods should not be given in large quantities at once; instead, they should be introduced incrementally to help the child adjust smoothly.
