Disease description:

Starting from when my mom turned 50, I've taken her for an annual physical checkup. Recently, she felt pain around her navel, so I brought her in for a checkup earlier than scheduled. The test results showed that she has iron deficiency anemia. But does iron deficiency anemia cause periumbilical pain?

Anemia does not cause abdominal pain. Common causes include chronic enteritis, chronic appendicitis, chronic pancreatitis, and urinary system stones. Patients are advised to go to the hospital for examination to determine whether the painful area has tenderness, rebound tenderness, etc., and receive appropriate treatment accordingly. If anemia is left untreated for a prolonged period, it may very likely lead to anemia-related heart disease.
