The two conditions differ in terms of causes, symptoms, and other aspects. In the latter, patients have low water content in their stool, which is dry and hard, possibly appearing in lumps or pellet-like shapes. The former refers to reduced bowel movement frequency, dry stools, and difficulty defecating; most patients experience dry stools, although some may have loose or soft stools. Patients suffer from constipation and an inability to fully evacuate, yet constantly feel the urge to defecate, often experiencing a sensation of incomplete evacuation after bowel movements. It is advisable to avoid greasy, spicy, and irritating foods, and to maintain a light, easily digestible diet. Additionally, avoid prolonged sitting and make sure to stay physically active.
