My uncle had polyps in his rectum and now experiences frequent urges to defecate and bowel sounds. What could be causing this? Are the bowel sounds related to intestinal polyps?

Bowel sounds are usually unrelated to intestinal polyps. Intestinal polyps are benign lesions in the gastrointestinal tract and typically do not cause symptoms. Symptoms may occur only when polyps are large or complications such as erosion develop, including blood in the stool, mucus in the stool, or irregular bowel movements. It is advisable to adjust your diet by consuming more high-fiber foods and taking probiotics such as yogurt to help regulate intestinal function and alleviate symptoms.
