What causes loud and frequent bowel sounds?
Disease description:
Recently, I have often experienced loud and frequent bowel sounds during work hours. What are the causes of loud and frequent bowel sounds?
Possible causes of loud and frequent bowel sounds include:
1. Hunger: When the stomach is empty, increased gastric juice secretion and intestinal peristalsis can produce louder sounds due to the movement of gas and fluid.
2. Indigestion: When food is difficult to digest or the body cannot effectively digest food, excessive gas produced by intestinal bacteria during decomposition can lead to increased bowel sounds.
3. Increased intestinal peristalsis: Conditions such as acute gastroenteritis, after taking laxatives, or during massive gastrointestinal bleeding can cause enhanced intestinal peristalsis, resulting in more than 10 bowel sounds per minute.
4. Hyperactive bowel sounds: Frequent and loud, high-pitched bowel sounds are commonly seen in mechanical intestinal obstruction.
5. Other diseases: Irritable bowel syndrome, food allergies, infectious diarrhea, and ulcerative colitis may also cause abnormal bowel sounds.
