What should I do for ischial tuberosity bursitis?
Disease description:
My sister-in-law has inflammation, possibly synovitis or ischial bursitis. What should be done?
Bursitis at the ischial tuberosity can be relieved by taking anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications such as ibuprofen or sodium diclofenac. The most common method is injecting medication directly into the bursal cavity to seal off the inflamed bursa. Typically, symptoms improve after three injections, and in some cases may even disappear completely. Treatment can also be performed using needle-knife release. If the cyst is large, recurrent, or unresponsive, surgical intervention should be considered until the infection is controlled.
