Hello, lumbar spinal stenosis refers to a condition in which structures forming the spinal canal—such as intervertebral discs, ligaments, hypertrophied facet joints, and thickened lamina—reduce the effective volume of the spinal canal, thereby compressing the spinal cord or cauda equina nerve roots and producing a constellation of symptoms. In early stages, symptoms are typically mild and primarily manifest as low back pain, resulting from degenerative disc height loss, facet joint instability, and mechanical irritation or friction.
