How to treat arm weakness caused by cervical spondylosis
Disease description:
Because I've been sitting in the office all along, I recently suddenly felt some discomfort and soreness in my neck, and then found out it was cervical spondylosis. My arms also seem weak. How should arm weakness caused by cervical spondylosis be treated?
Cervical compression and arm weakness can be treated through traction, oral anti-swelling and neurotrophic medications, as well as surgery. Cervical compression affecting the arm is categorized into radiculopathic cervical spondylosis and myelopathic cervical spondylosis. For relatively mild cases of radiculopathic cervical spondylosis, intermittent cervical traction with neck support, along with medications for dehydration, swelling reduction, and nerve nourishment, may be used. Neck posture should be kept straight, especially to avoid trauma. Severe radiculopathic cervical spondylosis or myelopathic cervical spondylosis requires surgical intervention due to significant nerve compression. Only surgery can effectively relieve nerve compression and muscle weakness. A light diet is recommended, avoiding spicy and irritating foods.
