Can cervical spondylosis cause numbness in the face and mouth?
Disease description:
As a 29-year-old woman, I'm not sure if it's because I've been looking down at electronic devices for long periods recently, but I seem to be having some cervical spine issues, which have led to numbness in my face and lips. Can cervical spondylosis cause facial and lip numbness?
Cervical spondylosis does not cause numbness in the face or mouth. When cervical spondylosis occurs, irritation of certain cervical and posterior plexus nerves may lead to radiating pain and numbness in the back of the patient's head, but it typically does not affect areas in the front of the head. If a patient experiences numbness in the mouth or face, it is usually caused by conditions related to the brain or cranial nerves, such as cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, or facial paralysis.
