Disease description:

I've recently been experiencing frequent heartburn and chest pain, and I'm concerned it might be reflux esophagitis. What are the characteristic symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)?

Symptoms of reflux esophagitis are relatively obvious, such as acid regurgitation, upper abdominal pain, and chest pain. When reflux esophagitis is more severe, heartburn may occur, causing intense pain beneath the breastbone, and sometimes a burning or irritating pain. Reflux esophagitis also commonly presents typical reflux symptoms, but bile reflux is rarely observed.
