What is the most obvious difference between esophagitis and esophageal cancer?
Disease description:
I've never quite understood the difference between esophagitis and esophageal cancer—what is the most obvious distinction between esophagitis and esophageal cancer?
The most obvious difference between esophagitis and esophageal cancer is that esophagitis is a benign condition of the esophagus, while esophageal cancer is a malignant tumor of the esophagus; the nature of these two diseases is entirely different. In gastroscopic examination, patients with esophagitis show erosion and congestion of the esophageal mucosa. In contrast, patients with esophageal cancer exhibit ulcerative lesions or space-occupying lesions within the esophagus during gastroscopy.
