Disease description:

I'm 21 weeks pregnant, and recently had a check-up for constipation which revealed that I have a low-lying placenta (placenta previa). Can straining during bowel movements affect the placenta previa?

Defecation generally does not affect placenta previa. However, excessive straining during bowel movements may impact placenta previa. It's best to avoid constipation during pregnancy, as toxins can be reabsorbed when constipation occurs, which is definitely harmful to the fetus and also detrimental to the mother's health. Eating more fresh vegetables and fruits can help alleviate constipation symptoms.
