I've been having severe itching these past few days, which is really uncomfortable and has started affecting my work. Could you please tell me what could cause external genital itching and how to deal with it?

Vulvar itching may be caused by factors such as vaginitis, allergies, or candidal vaginitis. If there is only localized itching without other discomfort, it can first be improved by washing with diluted potassium permanganate solution or sodium bicarbonate solution. Etiological treatment may be needed when necessary—for example, if the cause is bacterial vaginitis or candidal vaginitis, oral metronidazole tablets can be used concurrently. If the cause is an allergic reaction, loratadine can be taken orally as combination therapy.
