Recently, a friend of mine has been diagnosed with genital herpes, and I've had close contact with him over the past few days. I'm really worried that I might have contracted this disease. If I do have genital herpes, what symptoms would appear?

In cases of primary genital herpes, the skin presents with small vesicles that are either clustered or scattered. After rupture, local erosion occurs, leading to ulcer formation, followed by crusting, shedding, and healing, accompanied by pain. Some patients may also experience systemic symptoms such as fever, headache, inguinal lymphadenopathy, and general malaise. In recurrent genital herpes, patients may experience abnormal sensations at the affected site, such as pricking or burning. Some individuals may also have local pain, constipation, or other symptoms.
