The duration of coma due to thalamic hemorrhage and when a patient may regain consciousness depends specifically on the amount of bleeding and the patient's overall physical condition. If the hemorrhage is small, the patient usually regains consciousness within about one week. However, if the bleeding is extensive, the likelihood of regaining consciousness is lower, and there may even be a persistent unconscious state. If the condition is well-controlled during treatment but the patient still does not regain consciousness, there is a possibility that they may never wake up.
