Is there a relationship between estradiol and premature ovarian failure?
Disease description:
In recent months, my menstrual flow has been relatively light. Tests showed that estradiol levels are low. Is there a connection between low estradiol and premature ovarian failure?
Estradiol may be related to premature ovarian failure. Low estradiol levels can cause dry and wrinkled skin, breast shrinkage, impaired ovarian ovulation function, infertility, reduced menstrual flow, thinning of the endometrium, impaired follicular development and conception, and early onset of menopause. Estradiol levels are relatively low during menstruation but rise to higher levels before ovulation. Women who wish to assess premature ovarian failure through estradiol testing should generally undergo a hormonal evaluation on days 2 to 4 of their menstrual cycle, preferably in the morning after an overnight fast.
