How to treat mild bilateral hydronephrosis
Disease description:
A friend discovered during a health checkup that they have mild bilateral hydronephrosis. How is mild bilateral hydronephrosis treated?
Mild bilateral hydronephrosis requires identification of the underlying cause for appropriate management. It is recommended to promptly undergo relevant examinations at a hospital. If evaluation shows no lower urinary tract obstruction or the obstruction has already been resolved, no specific intervention is needed—regular follow-up is sufficient. If the hydronephrosis is caused by kidney stones, lithotripsy or stone removal should be performed first. In cases of congenital kidney abnormalities, surgical treatment is required. When hydronephrosis results from benign prostatic hyperplasia or renal tumors, surgical intervention is generally necessary.
