Why does bicornuate uterus occur?

Bicornuate uterus is generally caused by abnormal development of the female uterus. Women with a bicornuate uterus may experience symptoms such as heavy menstrual bleeding, prolonged menstruation, miscarriage, preterm labor, and abnormal fetal position. Patients with a bicornuate uterus should seek correction before attempting pregnancy. Pregnant women with this condition may encounter complications such as abnormal fetal position, miscarriage, or preterm delivery, although it usually does not cause significant clinical manifestations. Pregnant women with a bicornuate uterus are advised to rest in bed and avoid strenuous activities.
