Is there a connection between acute cystitis and underwear?

Acute cystitis is generally unrelated to underwear. Acute cystitis is mainly caused by neurological disorders; after pelvic surgery, damage to the nerves that control the bladder can lead to difficulty urinating and subsequent infection, ultimately resulting in acute cystitis. Bacterial infections can also cause this condition, as women have short urethras, making it easier for bacteria to ascend. Excessive fluid intake and poor personal hygiene may also lead to ascending infections, allowing microorganisms such as bacteria and fungi to multiply and cause illness.
