Disease description:

A few years ago, I had an intrauterine device (IUD) inserted. Today I want to go to the hospital to have it removed, but I'm worried about potential complications. I'd like to ask, what risks or complications might occur when removing an IUD?

Removing an intrauterine device (IUD) generally does not lead to complications. IUDs in postpartum patients are usually easy to remove, unless the device is malpositioned, in which case a hysteroscopy might be needed. Typically, it is recommended to schedule the procedure 3 to 7 days after menstruation ends, avoiding sexual intercourse during this period, and then visit the hospital for removal. There are many types of IUDs, most of which can be removed smoothly. After removal, patients should avoid sexual intercourse and tub baths for half a month and maintain a light diet.
