The tumor markers for ovarian cancer mainly include cancer antigen 125 (CA125), carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), and others. CA125, also known as glycoprotein 125, is a glycoprotein derived from the epithelium of embryonic body cavities. Granulosa cell tumors and theca cell tumors can secrete large amounts of estrogen. In cases with luteinization, testosterone secretion may also occur. Some estrogen can also be produced in serous, mucinous, and fibroepithelial tumors. Tumor markers for ovarian cancer are elevated in patients with ovarian cancer, typically several times higher than normal values.
