How is pericardial effusion produced?
Disease description:
Suddenly thought of it and went to the hospital with a friend for a comprehensive checkup. Fluid in the pericardial cavity was detected, but I haven't had any obvious symptoms. How could this pericardial effusion have developed?
There are many causes of pericardial effusion, which often contains high levels of protein and cells, making it prone to cause pericardial adhesions. Hypoproteinemia allows fluid components such as water from the blood to leak into the pericardial space and form effusion. Viral infection of the pericardium can lead to acute inflammation and fluid accumulation. Additionally, infectious conditions, kidney disease, radiation injury, and trauma can also cause pericardial effusion.
