Strabismus is classified into various types based on etiology, and treatment methods vary depending on the type. The more common forms are exotropia and esotropia. A small portion of esotropia cases are accommodative strabismus, which can usually be corrected with eyeglasses. However, most cases of esotropia and exotropia require surgical intervention. If a child has congenital strabismus, symptoms typically develop within the first six months after birth.
