Are vocal cord nodules the same as vocal polyps?

My friend said that vocal cord nodules and vocal polyps are the same condition, but some other friends said they're different. I'd like to ask: are vocal cord nodules and vocal polyps the same?

Vocal cord nodules differ from vocal cord polyps. Although the clinical symptoms of both vocal cord nodules and polyps resemble hoarseness, their laryngoscopic findings and treatments are different. Laryngoscopic examination of vocal cord nodules reveals symmetrical, nodular elevations located at the junction of the anterior one-third of both vocal cords. In contrast, laryngoscopic examination of vocal cord polyps shows a translucent white or pinkish mass, with a smooth surface, occurring either unilaterally or bilaterally at the anterior one-third junction of the vocal cords.
