Severe dry eye can be treated with artificial tears. For cases involving insufficient aqueous secretion, artificial tear replacement therapy may be chosen, or silicone eye patches, moisture chamber glasses, and diving goggles may be used. Temporary or permanent punctal occlusion can also be performed using collagen or silicone punctal plugs. If patients, after recovery, spend prolonged periods staring at computers or smartphones, their lifestyles may become irregular, and their diet may become spicy and greasy.
