Is strabismus in children easy to treat?
Disease description:
A relative's child was diagnosed with strabismus. They are worried every day, concerned it might affect the child's future life. Could you please advise whether childhood strabismus is treatable?
Strabismus in children can generally be treated successfully. For children with accommodative esotropia, if vision can be corrected and restored with glasses, surgery is usually not necessary. When the type of strabismus is complex, especially when both vertical and horizontal misalignments are present, surgery is required to avoid undercorrection or overcorrection. Some patients may still need to wear corrective glasses after surgery.
