Why does the uterus experience abnormal bleeding?

Abnormal uterine bleeding may be caused by dysfunctional bleeding, which is classified into two types: anovulatory and ovulatory. Anovulatory bleeding mostly occurs in adolescent females and primarily presents as menstrual disorders. Treatment involves first stopping the bleeding, then promoting ovulation to prevent prolonged estrogenic stimulation. In cases of ovulatory bleeding, which mainly affects women of reproductive age, menstruation may be excessively heavy; targeted treatment can be applied accordingly.
