Methods for treating dry eye syndrome
Disease description:
I've had dry eye syndrome for a while, but haven't gone to see a doctor or received treatment. I'd like to know what the treatment options are for dry eye syndrome.
The first-line treatment for dry eye syndrome is pharmacological therapy, including artificial tear solutions and corneal-nourishing eye drops. Commonly used medications in clinical practice mainly include sodium hyaluronate, polyvinyl alcohol, and sodium methylcellulose—such as Sioflox or the quinolone class of drugs. If there is partial corneal damage, bovine serum-derived protein-free extracts, recombinant gel, or bovine basic fibroblast growth factor preparations that nourish the cornea may be used.
