Warm compress method for dry eye syndrome
Disease description:
I've had dry eye syndrome for a while. A friend told me that applying warm compresses might help, so I'm considering giving it a try. What is the proper method for using warm compresses for dry eye syndrome?
For dry eye syndrome, consider warm compresses applied to the eyelids, especially for patients with meibomian gland dysfunction. Warm compresses can help melt the lipids within the eyelid glands, promoting secretion and thereby improving tear film stability. Since the melting point of these lipids ranges between 40 and 45 degrees Celsius, the temperature of the compress should not be too low. At home, a warm towel can be used for about 10 minutes per session, which tends to produce good results.
