Can viral encephalitis recur?
Disease description:
My colleague previously had viral encephalitis, which has since been successfully treated. May I ask whether viral encephalitis can recur?
Viral encephalitis generally does not recur. It is usually caused by enterovirus infection, or triggered by factors such as getting chilled, decreased immunity, or excessive physical fatigue. Therefore, patients with weakened immune systems are more susceptible to recurrence, which may present symptoms such as persistent high fever, headache, and vomiting. If viral encephalitis recurs, it is important to actively cooperate with the doctor's treatment.
