Can I eat shrimp during the recovery phase of pancreatitis?
Disease description:
I had pancreatitis a while ago and am currently in the recovery phase. I'm thinking about eating large shrimp for lunch today—may I ask if it's okay to eat shrimp during the recovery period of pancreatitis?
Patients recovering from pancreatitis can consume a small amount of shrimp. Shrimp contains abundant protein, and moderate consumption can help replenish essential nutrients in the body. However, excessive intake is not recommended, as it may overwhelm the pancreas, making it unable to secrete sufficient digestive enzymes to break down the protein in shrimp. This could lead to indigestion and gastrointestinal discomfort in patients.
