Recently I've had a mouth ulcer, and for the past couple of days my ear has been itchy inside. Can a mouth ulcer cause itching in the ear?

Oral ulcers usually do not cause inflammation of the middle ear. However, some people may experience inflammation of the mucosa surrounding the ulcer site, or even the mucosa of the pharynx, along with oral ulcers. This is generally accompanied by significant throat pain, which could potentially lead to otitis media. If tinnitus is clearly present during an episode of oral ulcer, further examinations are necessary.
