What causes jet-like bleeding after a bowel movement?

Post-defecation jet-like bleeding is typically indicative of internal hemorrhoid bleeding. If recurrent, patients may develop symptoms of anemia. In hemorrhoids, particularly internal hemorrhoids, the elevated tissue causes capillaries to become dilated and more fragile. During defecation, the passage of stool may cause friction and irritation, while increased pelvic pressure can lead to rupture of these capillaries. If the jet-like bleeding is infrequent, conservative management is recommended, including daily use of hemorrhoidal suppositories, a bland diet, and avoidance of spicy or irritating foods.
