Is a sore and swollen throat due to stomach fire?
Disease description:
My throat is slightly swollen and painful. I'm not sure if it's caused by excessive stomach heat. Can sore throat and swelling be due to excessive stomach heat?
Sore throat and swelling are usually not caused by stomach fire. Swelling and pain in the throat are typically due to tonsillitis, which requires anti-inflammatory treatment and nebulized inhalation therapy. Oral antibiotics such as cephalosporins and penicillins are recommended. When experiencing throat pain, patients should visit an otolaryngology department for tests including complete blood count and laryngoscopy to check for conditions such as pharyngitis. Additionally, patients are advised to drink plenty of water, avoid spicy foods, and prevent worsening of symptoms.
